Korakas is Rodakino’s 400-metre sweep of dark sand and small pebbles. It sits around two kilometres below Ano and Kato Rodakino, where the village is divided by a steep gorge beneath Mount Kryoneritis.

The eastern point
The rock that named the beach
Sharp rocks at the eastern end resemble a crow’s beak; Korakas means “crow” in Greek. The headland separates the main beach from Klimata, with a small fishing harbour on its far side.

Two villages divided by a gorge
Ano and Kato Rodakino sit at the mouth of the gorge that cuts through Mount Kryoneritis. Olive groves cover the lower slopes; the coast continues east towards Plakias and west towards Frangokastello and Sfakia.
The drive back from the beach is a steep, paved climb to the village road.

Korakas is one stop on a quieter coast
Family-run rooms and tavernas line parts of Korakas. About one kilometre west, the paved shore road reaches Polyrizos, a smaller beach set among olive groves with finer sand and a shallow shoreline.

From Plakias
Korakas is roughly 12 km west along the south-coast road.
From Rethymno
Rodakino is around 45 km away, reached over the mountain roads.
Final approach
A paved road descends from Rodakino towards Korakas and the shore.
At the house
A narrow beach road runs between the terraces and the pebbles.

Free private parking is set behind the house.

A car is useful for the village, neighbouring beaches and the wider coast.
